YOUNG & THRIVING PROGRAM – NEW!
The Young & Thriving program has been designed to support young people in learning about themselves and their overall wellbeing. These groups are suited for youth between the ages of 12-years and 15-years of age. Participants are assigned to groups depending on their gender identity and preferences.
Youth involved in this group program will build relationships with peers and trained facilitators throughout their 7 week session. They will learn new skills around boundary setting and decision making, gain knowledge of self-care and mental health as well as discuss how to achieve balance. Participants can also look forward to interacting with guest speakers and focusing on topics that are important to the group.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muskoka will host various sessions of Young & Thriving throughout 2022 in both virtual and in-person formats. Group meetings will take place weekly in the evenings over 7 weeks. Start dates for groups will be announced as schedules are available.
Facilitators include agency staff, placement students and volunteers who are trained to deliver the program.
The Young & Thriving Program strives to:
- Provide a safe space for youth to be themselves
- Foster relationships and leadership skills
- Promote a balanced lifestyle
- Provide the opportunity for young people to control their own progress
