We are currently hiring for: 


Function: The incumbent is charged with the administration, leadership, direction and implementation of the Agency programs through policies set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director will oversee and manage all staff ensuring that the Agency adheres to the National Standards as set by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

Board Governance

  • Be responsible to the Board for general administration, organization and management of theorganization in accordance with the policies established by the Board
  • Give feedback and support the board and other executives in policy revision and creation processes
  • Attend Board and committee meetings and provide information and leadership as necessary
  • Communicate to the Board all human resources requirements including staffing and training needs

Program Management

  • Oversee implementation and effective execution of agency programs in accordance with Agency Policy and National Standards
  • Perform Casework functions in the absence of Caseworker, as and when necessary
  • Assist the Board and staff in the development of high-quality programs consistent with community needs
  • Coordinate and manage all program-related activities
  • Establish mechanisms for evaluating agency programs

Human Resources & Personnel Management

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to executive the work of the Agency effectively
  • Be responsible for hiring appropriate staff for all positions
  • Provide clearly defined job descriptions for all staff positions
  • Ensure all staff receive sufficient orientation and training to perform their duties
  • Ensure staff development programs are developed in accordance with staff needs
  • Act as liaison between staff and Board
  • Terminate staff when necessary
  • Ensure annual personnel evaluations are completed
  • Ensure proper screening completed on all personnel


  • Assist Treasurer and Business Development Manager with the preparation and presentation of the organization’s budget to ensure the alignment of agency goals
  • Assist the Board and Business Development Manager in the development of a long-term financial plan
  • Support the flow of expenditures and incoming funds as needed and to ensure accountability


  • Assume the role of Chief Privacy Officer
  • Ensure adherence to federal and provincial privacy legislation
  • Ensure training is delivered to staff related to applicable privacy legislation
  • Act as contact person for all privacy related matters between public, Agency, Board and National Office

Media & Public Relations

  • Create and distribute daily social media to increase online presence of the agency
  • Participate in interviews, speaking engagements and presentations
  • Write and distribute compelling press releases, PSAs, ad copy, media invitations, and story pitches
  • Produce graphic, photo, and video content to brand standards
  • Revise and update website content as needed


  • Leadership and management experience in a non-profit or charitable organization
  • Post-secondary education in business or related discipline preferred and/or combination of experience and training
  • Demonstrated competence in working with a Board of Directors
  • Strong relationship building skills (internal and external stakeholders)
  • Well-rounded experience in operations, finance and people management
  • Demonstrated financial skills including budget preparation, management and analysis
  • Understanding of not-for-profit funding models including grant and funding requests
  • Knowledge of social service sector in Muskoka
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, and resource allocation
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills

**This is a hybrid role with the possibility of full-time in-office work in the future. The current need would require at least three days of office availability per week.**

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $50,000.00 per year
